The AES and Sustainability undertake many projects each semester to reduce Acadia’s environmental impact and spread awareness about environmental issues. Here are a few we have going this semester:

The Green Police

The Annapolis Valley is fortunate to have one of the best municipal recycling systems in the country, but few know exactly how to sort their waste to minimize the amount that winds up in a landfill. The Green Police are here to change all that. Find out more!

Acadia Rideshare

Acadia Rideshare was launched in the Spring of 2008 to make up for the lack of a rideboard at the University. The site is now home to at least 10 ongoing commutes from around the province, and listed over 40 rides during for winter break. Find out more!

The Freemarket

The Freemarket is a project aimed at helping University students connect with the community through a small recycling depot located in the Environmental office in the ASU. Find out more!

The ASU Green Corner

In 200? the ASU installed a wind turbine and solar panels on its roof to experiment with alternative energy sources, but the project was suspended due to lack of funds. This semester, the SO plans to reclaim the project and create a green corner in the SUB. Find out more!
