New Facebook Group Emerges: “WE WANT A TIM HORTONS IN THE SUB”

Current description: “Havings a Tim’s in the SUB would be sweet, and Chartwells has been bought out as the food service provider in the SUB. If you like Tim’s, please join.” Current membership: 108 (as of 11:12pm…the number is growing pretty fast).

I’ve asked group creator (as listed on facebook) to submit (or encourage his members to) any communication he has sent the ASU to get another opposing viewpoint on this blog besides Kyle’s, but as of yet I’ve received no response.

The group can be found here.

Message to the creator (of the facebook group, not the allmighty creator):

hey,

I’m keeping a blog following the debate about tim’s in the sub…most of our stuff is anti-tim’s because those are the people that have copied me on emails (and emails I’ve sent…I’m a bit biased here). If you’ve sent a letter to Kyle around this please forward it to me so I can post it on the website. most of what I’m trying to do is make the process of selection for something in the perkin’s space more open, because there’s alot of people who feel pretty underrepresented in the research the ASU has done so far.

the blog is http://aes.fishandwhistle.net/ , and my email is aes@acadiau.ca . there’s also a place to comment, so feel free to comment on letters that have been sent in opposition to Tim Horton’s and responses from Kyle Steele. if you (or any of the people in this group) would like to submit anything, email us! we’re trying to facilitate discussion since the ASU hasn’t done so thus far, although our bias is clearly to encourage a more sustainable choice.

also, I’ve found that in doing petitions (and this group is kind of like a petition) if you have a strong message, the petition is going to be taken far more seriously when submitted. Alot of people like tim’s (including me), but when presented with alternatives find that there are better options that facilitate sustainable choices and student community.

thanks!

-dewey (acadia environmental society person)
