AES/SO 2009: New Semester, Same World to Save

Another semester is upon us, and I know many of you (like me) have much easier, or at least different schedules. Amy and I done quite a bit of brainstorming over the break to prepare for another four months of environmental action here on campus, and we’d like to know what you think as well. To accomplish this as well as fill our stomachs with delicious (hopefully local) food, we’re throwing another one of our famous AES/SO Potlucks at 34 Westwood (The Eco House!) on Sunday January 11 at 5pm…sharp.

I’m  hoping to make this potluck a bit like an open house. All of you have, at some point or another, expressed interest in becoming active in environmental issues on campus. The Sustainability Office and Environmental Society exist for exactly that reason…to provide an opportunity for students to get involved and informed through environmental action. The aforementioned student could be you! We’ve got lots of great ideas for this semester, and the more people are interested, the more ideas we can turn into a reality. First step: eat food at my house on sunday….couldn’t be any easier.

That said, I just kind of pulled this date out of a hat. If you’re aching to come but can’t because of the date, let me know and we can work something out.

Also, two things you should show up for this week:

1. The Contra Dance! Saturday, January 10 at 8pm in the Horton Community Hall in Grand Pre…if you want to go but don’t have a ride…I for one will be going and have room, so let me know. for more information, see the facebook event, or the Acadia Farm Website. The Smokin’ Contra Dance Band is lined up to play one Smokin’ Contra Dance, so you’d better be there!

2. An Environmental Engineering Candidate is speaking tomorrow (tuesday) at 3pm in Carnegie Hall room 325 about Water Sustainability and safer drinking water.

Have a wonderful first week….I’ll be seeing you all on Sunday.
